MUST READ: 10 Warning Signs of breast cancer in men and women

Breast cancer can affect both men and women but women are much more affected than men. Breast cancer is a type of cancer that develops from breast tissue.
It is the most common and invasive cancer in women all over the world and one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths among women.
Men, just like women also have breast tissue, howbeit in a very small amount. For this reason, men can also have breast cancer.
Breast cancer is often times discovered much later in men than women. This could be because men usually do not suspect anything strange in their chest until much later when the cancer has progressed.
Symptoms of breast cancer in men are usually the same with women. Also, breast cancer can be as severe in men as in women.
For both men and women, here are some early signs of breast cancer to watch out for:
  • A lump in the breast
  • A swelling in one of the armpits
  • A change in the size and shape of the breast
  • A rash on or around one of the nipples
  • Redness on the skin of the breast
  • Nipple discharge which may also include blood
  • A pain in the armpit or breast (that is not related with menstrual pain in women)
  • An area of thickened tissue in a breast
  • Sunken or inverted nipple
These signs should not be ignored. If you notice any of these symptoms, it is best to see your doctor as soon as possible.
